There’ll be ‘bitter hardship’ for Ghanaians because of 2021 budget – Forson Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Finance
Committee, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has revealed
that the 2021 budget statement presented by the
Caretaker Finance Minister, Majority Leader of
Parliament and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs,
Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu will worsen the flight
of Ghanaians.
According to Dr. Ato Forson, Ghanaians should
expect nothing good claiming the budget was
prepared by the Vice president Dr. Mahamadu
Bawumia to bring untoward hardship to the people.
“I can assure you this budget is going to be a
bitter Ghanaian budget prepared by Bawumia with
the aim to bring hardship to the people of
Ghana”, the former Deputy Finance Minister
revealed on a local TV station about the budget

“To simply put this is a bitter Bawumia budget.
This is a budget that will introduce taxes and in
the end will take money from the ordinary
Ghanaian”, he predicted
“A budget that will not give hope to the
contractors that are being owned by the
government. A budget that is not presenting any
hope as to how a debt situation of Ghana is going
to be solved to the extent that if care is not
taken time will come this country will not be in
position to service its debt”
The government in the 2021 budget has introduced
four new levies and increased other existing ones
pending parliamentary approval.
The new levies include COVID-19 health levy,
petroleum levy, sanitation and pollution levy as
well as financial sector clean-up levy while
