Naomi, a BECE candidate and her friend were hit by a Suzuki 4x4 vehicle

BECE candidate killed in a freak accident
Naomi Hanson, a 16-year-old final year JHS student
of Golden Age school Complex, has been killed in a
car accident in Tarkwa. A Suzuki 4×4 vehicle
allegedly rammed into the deceased and one
Patricia Entsie, 17, while they stood at a
junction around the Class Link Hotel in Tarkwa.

The two friends, who were preparing to write the
Basic Education Certificate Examination, were
rushed to the Apinto Government Hospital for
treatment by some residents in the area, but Naomi
died shortly after arrival.

Patricia, however, survived with a compound
fracture on one of her legs and is still on
admission and responding to treatment. The body of
the deceased has also been deposited at the same
hospitals morgue for autopsy.

Superintendent of Police Mrs Victoria Yamoah, the
Tarkwa Nsueam Divisional Motor Transport and
Traffic Department (MTTD) Commander, said this in
an interview with the Ghana News Agency in her
office at Tarkwa. She said on April 23 this year,
around 1930 hrs, Madam Janet Afful, a Secretary
reported to the Tarkwa police that she was in
charge of the said vehicle moving from
Kawerkananor towards the Class Link Hotel.

She said the suspect, the driver, claimed that
when she got to a section of the road, there were
many people standing at a junction and in an
attempt to turn into the Class Link Hotel road she
knocked down Naomi and Patricia into a ditch. The
MTTD Commander said the suspect complained of
chest pains and was taken to the hospital for
treatment. Superintendent Yamoah said the suspect
has been released on bail and the case is under
investigation.
