President Akufo-Addo

Appoint DCE from Abetifi – Group
A youth group known as Concerned Youth of Abetifi
has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa
Akufo-Addo to consider choosing an indigene of
Abetifi-Kwahu as District Chief Executive for
Kwahu East.

A press statement signed by Akuamoah Boateng, a
member of the group, and two others said no
indigene of Abetifi had ever been considered for
the position of DCE ever since the Kwahu East
District Assembly was established, though Abetifi
remains the capital.

“The Concerned Youth of Abetifi also wishes to
appeal to the president to nominate Hon. William
Owusu as the DCE for Kwahu East district since
Abetifi has never been considered for the position
ever since the Kwahu East District Assembly was
established, regardless of the fact that Abetifi
serves as the district capital. We firmly believe
this is not fair to the people of Abetifi and its
surrounding villages.

To add, we say Hon. Owusu is the preferred choice
for the post of DCE for Kwahu East based on the
underlisted facts and reasons: In the 2016
elections, Abetifi and its rural settlements
attracted 7,438 votes for NPP, Aduamoa and rural
settlements also produced 2,047 votes, Bokuruwa
gave us 483 votes, etc. Based on this, it is
politically beneficial to have a DCE from Abetifi,
which produced the greatest number of votes for
the party. The president must consider the Abetifi
factor if indeed politics is about numbers.

“As a party which respects party structures and
rewards hard work and competence, it will be
politically wrong to deny Hon. William Owusu and
Abetifi and its surrounding villages as a whole
the opportunity to serve the people of Kwahu East
as the DCE.

“We humbly appeal to the president, local
government minister, regional minister, MP for
Abetifi, the National Appointments Committee,
regional and constituency executives of the party,
to appoint Hon. William Owusu (the only Abetifi
native among the aspirants) for the DCE position
to reunite the party and develop Kwahu East."
