Mohammed Salisu Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu delighted by 'perfect' Southampton debut Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu has described his
Southampton debut as 'perfect' after helping the
Saints to advance to the quarter-finals of the FA
Cup with victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 21-year-old lasted the entire duration as
second-half goals from Danny Ings and Stuart
Armstrong sealed victory at the Molineux.
Salisu who joined from Real Valladolid in the
summer had to wait for months to make his debut
due to injuries and fitness issues.
However, last night the swashbuckling defender
showed why the Saints spent £10.9 million to sign
him.
"It's a perfect night, I'm really happy to be back
with the team," the Ghanaian centre-back said
after the game. "The team really did well and
worked hard, I'm very happy.
"I'm very excited for a clean sheet, it's very
important. It was a great boost really, we are
going to give our all on Sunday.
"I think we need to focus on the next round, fight
hard together and I think we'll go further. When
we are on the pitch, we are all the same and we
have to give our all.
"I'm looking forward to playing more matches and
give my best to the team."
Salisu is hoping to make more appearances for the
Saints, including Sunday's clash Wolves.
"Now we are looking forward to Sunday against the
same team, we are going in with all again and
hopefully we will get the three points," said
Salisu. Source - Ghanasoccernet
