PFAG boss, Tony Baffoe Tony Baffoe urges government to create fund for Black Starlets Chairman of the Professional Footballers
Association of Ghana, Anthony Baffoe has called
the government to create a fund for the National
Black Starlets team.
Ahead of the U-17 CAF Championship is Gabon, the
players were demanding for the outstanding bonuses
before they depart from the shores of the
country.
However, the management of the U-17 team cautioned
the players to focus on the tournament and told
them how the issue of winning bonuses can ruin
their career as professional footballers.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) however
promised the players not to be worried with the
outstanding and winning bonuses ahead of the
tournament.
However, Baffoe believes creating a fund for these
yoing players will help develop their career as
footballers.
"I don't like the issue of winning bonus when it
comes to the Black Starlets." He told GTV
Sports+.
"These are young players growing up and the best
way to manage their winning bonuses is create a
fund for them and that is what I am expecting the
government to do.
"If the players are being paid with these huge
sums of money, some will drop out of school and we
will not see them again which is not good for our
football. The issue of winning bonuses will always
destabilize the team.
"Moving forward I think the management of the team
has managed the players very well." He added.
The Black Starlets have already qualified for the
U-17 World Cup which kicks off later this year in
India after defeating Cameroon and Gabon in the
ongoing U-17 CAF Championship in Gabon. Source - asempanews.com
