Ghana suffer big tumble in FIFA ranking, slip to ninth in Africa
Ghana suffered one of its biggest tumbles in the
FIFA World ranking on Thursday when the Black
Stars slipped to the 53rd position in the world
and also dropped to ninth in Africa.

The defeat to Egypt in the 2018 World Cup
qualifiers cost the Black Stars a heavy fall in
the FIFA ranking for the month of November.

The Black Stars are down eight places in the world
ranking to 53rd position and went down four places
to ninth in the Africa.

Ghana lost 2-0 to the Pharaohs at the Borg El-Arab
Stadium in Alexandria to lose grounds in Group E.

Egypt leapfroged ten places to the 36th position
and Number 4 in Africa.

Senegal, despite losing 2-1 at South Africa,
remain the continent's highest ranked nation and
33rd in the world.

They are followed by Cote d'Ivoire and Tunisia,
who are tied in the 34th position.

Ghana can only have the chance to revive with win
in the friendly matches before the African Cup of
Nastions in January. Impressive results at the
Africa Cup of Nations will also help the Black
Stars cause.

Argentina remain top for November, but have seen
their command on the summit weakened by close
rivals Brazil (2, up 1).

After a good run of form in FIFA World Cup
qualifying, A Seleção have surpassed Germany (3,
down 1) and closed the distance to their South
American neighbours, as the year-end approaches.

Chile, meanwhile, climbed into fourth place.
