Ghana v Egypt: Stars must be psyched – Osei Kofi Rev Osei Kofi, a former player of the Black Stars,
has suggested that players of the Black Stars will
need to be prepared mentally for the crucial World
Cup qualifier encounter with Egypt on Sunday so
they can pick the maximum points.
According to him, anything short of a win for the
Black Stars will mean Ghana kissing goodbye to the
Russia 2018 World Cup.
Egypt won their first game in the qualifiers,
defeating Congo 2-1 away, while Ghana played a
goalless draw with Uganda. A win for the Egyptians
on Sunday will see them lead the group with six
points, a situation that will make it difficult
for Ghana and the countries in the group to
qualify for the tournament.
Speaking in an interview with Accra News on Friday
November 11, Rev Osei Kofi said: “To be honest
with you the Egyptians need the three points more
than we do in this game. It has been many years
since Egypt qualified for a World Cup but Ghana
has qualified three times. If we qualify for
Russia then it becomes four times, and so the
Egyptians will take this particular encounter more
seriously than Ghana.”
“As for Coach Avram Grant, we need to put issues
about him aside and psyche the players because
they are going to play the match, not the coach.
We drew in our first game at home but Egypt went
away to win the maximum points. If they win this
encounter that is the end of the road for the
Black Stars as far as the World Cup in Russia is
concerned. I am not too sure the Black Stars want
to miss the World Cup, so they will play their
hearts out to win.” Source - Classfmonline
