GFA vice president, George Afriyie Kevin-Prince Boateng can't be recalled, Afriyie Ghana Football Association vice president George
Afriyie says it is impossible to recall suspended
Kevin-Prince Boateng to the Black Stars.
Boateng was banished from Ghana's camp at the 2014
FIFA World Cup in Brazil for insulting head coach
Kwesi Appiah.
But in a recent interview with CCTV Africa, the
in-form Las Palmas midfielder claimed he did
nothing wrong and was unjustly persecuted.
However, Boateng says he will jump at the
opportunity to rejoin the Black Stars after
clear-the-air talks with the Ghana FA.
His four goals in eight league matches, has
intensified calls for him to return to the team
after Ghana made jerky
But Afriyie, who doubles as Black Stars management
committee chairman, explains the stumbling block.
"Once the player is suspended, I don't see how a
player can be called up under football structure,"
he told Asempa Sports.
"If a player begs, it is very important because
once we agree he did nothing, we can move on.
"The choice to call him is a management decision.
It is solely not my decision. I may or may not
like him in the team but it is not down to me.
"No one is doubting the fact Kevin is playing
well. When you give a job to the coach, you can
make recommendations but the final decision lies
with the coach." Source - Soccernet
