Ghana face anxious wait over Asamoah Gyan latest injury Ghana are nervously waiting to discover the extent
of injury suffered by captain Asamoah Gyan during
a training session at Al Ahli that could force him
out of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Egypt
on November 13.
Gyan, 30, picked up the latest setback during a
training session on Tuesday and missed the Al Ahli
6-0 win over Hatta in the UAE League on
Wednesday.
The iconic Ghana captain is set to undergo further
test, amid fears he is set for another spell on
the sidelines.
The former Sunderland hitman has confirmed he's
racing against time to be fully fit for the highly
anticipated clash at the Borg El Arab stadium in
Alexandria.
“It will be very hard to participate in
Ghana’s encounter against the Pharaohs on the
13th of November in the 2018 World Cup
Qualifiers,” Gyan was quoted by UAE portal 24.
“I will undergo tests tomorrow under the
supervision of the club’s medical team to find
out the extent of my injury and the duration of my
time out.'
The latest news will be a source of headache for
Ghana coach Avram Grant, who is keen to have his
trusted men fully fit for the big showdown in the
North African country.
Gyan is Ghana's all-time leading scorer with 48
goals from over 90 appearances and largely seen as
the main source of goals for the Black Stars over
the last decade.
Grant will be anxiously waiting to find out the
extent of damage suffered by his top striker
though his absence from his side's heavy win over
Hatta could prove an effective remedy.
The two giants clash at the Alexandria’s Borg
El-Arab Stadium with a record-high 75,000
spectators allowed to attend, a number unmatched
since the Port Said massacre over 4 years ago. Source - Soccernet
