Andre Ayew not pushing for Black Stars bonus increase The Ayew family has moved quickly to quell growing
reports that deputy skipper Andre Ayew is using
his influence to lobby the Presidency to increase
the winning bonus of the team in the wake of the
recent reduction.
The Sports Ministry a few weeks ago agreed with
the playing body and the Ghana Football
Association to pay players an amount of 8,000
USD,instead of the regular 10,000.
Reports from some quarters claim that Andre Ayew
has met with President John Dramani Mahama in a
bid to have the bonus increased to 12,000 USD.
Spokesperson for the family, Fiifi Tackie,
indicated that these were fabrications being made
up by certain individuals to taint the name of the
player.
“We hear stories that Andre Ayew has asked the
President to make available a chartered flight and
also to increase bonuses from 8,000 to 12,000.
“These stories have been made up by certain
people and we want them to desist from this
behaviour because it helps no one.
“Andre has not held any meetings with the
President over any bonus increase.
“We all know the bonus has been slashed down
and it its being paid in cedis as well, the players
have accepted it,”he told Citi Sports’ Nathan
Quao in an interview on Tuesday. Source - Citisports
