ECG cuts power to Accra Sports Stadium Power supply to the Accra Sports Stadium has been
cut by the Electricity Company of Ghana over
unpaid bills.
The Accra Sports Stadium in 2015 owed the ECG
bills worth GH¢240,000 and were placed on a
payment plan of GH¢24,000 per month to enable
them clear the debt but reports indicate that
managers of the facility have been unable to clear
the debts.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National
Sports Authority, Frederica Mensah-Davies told
Graphic Online that power supply to the national
stadium was cut on Tuesday.
"We are not the only ones who are owing, we have
paid our sum for this month as part of the
agreement but they (ECG) have asked us to pay a
bit more for them to reconnect us.
"We are hopeful that we will be able to raise the
sum required by close of day to restore the
power," Madam Mensah-Davies added.
The Accra Sports stadium is the second stadia to
be disconnected by the ECG as part of their mass
disconnection exercise.
The newly constructed Cape Coast Sports Stadium
was also disconnected a few weeks ago for owing
the ECG GH¢719,792.46.
