GPL REVIEW: Hearts, Dreams FC, Wa All Stars score full marks in week two.
Accra, Feb 29, GNA - Coach Kenichi Yastuhashi’s
side scored full marks on Sunday afternoon when
they traveled to Tarkwa TNA Park to pick all three
points.

Hearts of Oak played against Tom Strand’s
Medeama side who had never lost at home to the
Phobians. Again coming from the back of a defeat
to Ashgold in match day one, Medeama had the odds
on their side to win at home.

Hearts had some injury concerns as well with their
prospect of the season Samudeen Ibrahim missing
the game to injury as well their Burkinabe safest
pair of hands, Soulama Abdouaye among other top
players.

The Phobians however lived the true meaning of
their “never say die” spirit when they defied
all odds to win by two goals to nil.

Second half goals from Cosmos Duada and Eric Kumi
was more than enough to secure King Keni’s
second consecutive victory in his debut season in
the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Hearts of Oak really looked solid and resilient in
defence to prevent Medeama from scoring a goal
even though Medeama looked dangerous in attack.

The Phobian fans will be particularly happy with
their defence, having kept two clean sheets so far
in the opening games of the season.

Another surprising away win this weekend came for
Wa All Stars when they nipped Dormaa giants,
Aduana Stars by a lone goal to go on top of the
league log.

Aduana Stars had an impressive home record going
into this game having conceded only two goals at
home last season. But Wa All Stars also had their
own plans for the home side to maintain their
perfect start to the season.

Kofi Yebaoh scored against the round of play for
the away side in the second half after they had
gone under intense pressure.

All Stars won 3-0 at home in their match day one
game and with this away victory to no mean a side
than Aduana Stars, means that the Wa based side
has a lot up their sleeves this season.

A dream start for Dreams FC was however a reality
when the Kweiman based side recorded their first
home victory in the Premier League against Bechem
United.

Ben Nash-Quansah made history with his early
minute first half goal when he became the first
player to score a home goal in the GPL for Dreams
FC at their Theatre of Dreams Park in Dawu .

This means their 100 percent start to the season
is intact as this makes up their second victory in
a row. Against a stubborn Bechem side, C.K Akornor
and his team had to dig deep to protect the only
goal which did all the trick for them.

Liberty professional corrected all their errors in
their first defeat to steal all points at stake
from Tema Inter Allies.

Inter Allies who looked stronger after they
conceded two quick goals in the first half from
Kingsley Kissi’s own goal and Latif Salifu’s
stunner, left it too little too late to ever
salvage a point from the Dansoman Alhaji Sly
Tetteh Park.

Liberty were bent on protecting their two goal
lead but eventually had to give in one after
lengthy minutes of defending in the second half
when Frederick Boateng pulled one back for the
visiting team.

At the Berekum Golden City Park, a Saddick Adams
first half goal was all Berekum Chelsea needed to
their first win this season against a young and
energetic West Africa Football Academy side
(WAFA).

WAFA could not keep to their ‘tiki taka’ style
of play because the nature of the pitch at Berekum
would not allow them.

As a result they had to adopt by playing it safe
giving the home team the upper hand. Chelsea
dominated play and could have recorded more
goals.

Meanwhile on Saturday goals were in over flow at
the Sekondi Essipong Sports Stadium. Sekondi
Hassacas played to the delight of their home fans
when they hosted new boys Techiman City. Former
Asante Kotoko forward and goal king Eric Bekoe was
the hero of the day getting two goals while Amos
Korankye and Ernest Papa Arko added to make it
four for the home team.

The ‘citizens’ nonetheless got consolation
goals from Baba John Mahama and Roger Nortey.

However, an earlier kick on Friday was a baptism
of fire for new entrants Ebusua Dwarfs.

New Edubiase managed a one goal victory -goal
scored by Fuseni Zuberu- in the second half to
further rub salt into the wounds of coach J.E
Sarpong and his boys.

Asante Kotoko and Ashgold’s game at the Baba
Yara Sport Stadium was postponed to March 7 due to
the latter’s Confederation of Africa Football
(CAF) Africa campaign.
