Hearts can win Ghana League - Don Bortey
Hearts of Oak legend, Bernard Don Bortey has said
that his former side can compete for the league
title when the league kick starts on February 20
under manager Keniche Yatsuhashi.

Bortey watched his former team beat Nigeria
Premier League side Ifeanyi FC by 2-0 with the
goals coming new sensation Samudeen Ibrahim and
Thomas Abbey before beating the 64 battalions and
Virgin cup winners squad 4-2 in an impartation
game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Phobians for the past seven years have not
been the club many touted as one of the biggest
clubs in the country due to their inability to
annex any major trophy.
The current administration led by Togbe Afede XIV
has hugely been criticized by old directors and
fans of the club for their managerial style
insisting they are taking the club down.

The Phobians last season endured a difficult
season as they escaped relegation at the last hour
after finishing the league at the 13 position,
beating the 14th placed team Heart of Lions with a
slim goal difference.

The now free agent man has watched the Phobians'
struggles from afar last season and even their
pre-season , but believes "Keniche and his boys"
can turn things around when the season commences.

Speaking to Adom Sports, Don Bortey said “From
what l saw on Sunday l think this team can win the
league title for all Phobians in the coming season
to end our seven years trophy drought.”

"Anything is possible, and that's why we watch
football. You can't rule them out as champions…
that team could beat everyone from now until the
end of the season.

He then urged the supporters to rally behind the
team even these difficult times.

"Hearts are going through a bit of a rough patch
at the moment, it's difficult to put your finger
on what the problems are," he continued. "When
teams aren't getting results, it's usually a
collection of things. The players are young, the
squad is strong and I think it'll be turned around
with the fans solidly behind them”.

“They can be champions if the supporters can
throw their support behind them like they did for
us when we were playing the club”, he added.

Hearts will welcome New Edubiase United in the
opening day of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League at
the Accra Sports Stadium on February 20.
