Gyan's Al Ain clinch Arabian Gulf League title Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan continues to win titles
in the UAE after powering Al Ain to win the
2014/2015 Arabian Gulf League title, with three
matches to spare.
The Boss lead the league log with a healthy
10-point advantage ahead of realistic contenders
Al Jazira. This means, Al Ain can afford to lose
the remaining three matches and still finish the
season unscathed.
Gyan was as on target on Thursday night as Al Ain
walloped Al Ittihad Kalba 4-0 to remain on course.
However, Al Jazira needed a win badly on Friday to
restore the seven-point deficit behind Al Ain, but
their 1-0 defeat to Al Wahda left them with no
hope as Zlatko Dalic's side are set to be crowned
champions for the 12th time.
Baby Jet, as he is popularly known, has now won
three league titles in his four seasons in the UAE
top-flight. The 29-year-old, despite winning a
team award, is set to miss out on his trademark
goal king accolade since he is on 13 goals, 11
behind Al Jazira's Mirko Vucinic with three more
matches to go.
The former Rennes player has won that award in the
last three seasons since making a switch from
England to the UAE.
Gyan has been highly decorated during his
adventure in the Gulf Region, having won the UAE
President's Cup and the Arabian Gulf Super Cup,
aside the three league titles. Source - Starrfmonline
