Ghana FA technical chief urges fans to measure criticism of Avram Grant over local players snub
Ghana FA technical director Francis Oti Akenteng
has urged for fans’ patience on the debate over
quota selection system for local players,
insisting the demand is premature.

The experienced football administrator says it’s
unfair for fans to criticize Avram Grant after the
Israeli overlooked locals in his squad to face
Senegal and Mali in an international friendly this
month.

Only Ashantigold goalkeeper Fatau Dauda caught the
attention of the 60-year-old in his latest squad
which has sparked uproar over supposed neglect of
local players in the Black Stars.

Chairman of the Premier League Board, Welbeck
Abra-Appiah is at loggerhead with the country’s
federation president Kwesi Nyantakyi amid claims
and counter claims over the selectionn quota for
local players in the team.

But Ghana FA technical director Francis Oti
Akenteng is urging for cool heads as the former
Chelsea trainer will require time to select any
local player into his team.

“I think he has had the opportunity to witness
only two local league matches. I don’t think it
is even enough. Let us give him the opportunity
and the time and see what he can do. For now it is
too early,” Akenteng told Starr Sports
