Ghana coach Avram Grant is hoping to avoid
penalties in Ghana’s quarter-final game against
Guinea Sunday.
According to him, past experience with penalty
shootouts makes him dread it and wants to steer
clear of it. The Israeli lost his job at the
Stamford Bridge when Chelsea were beaten by
Manchester United on penalties in the 2008
Champions League final.
The ex-Chelsea boss has, however, told the media
the Black Stars are prepared for anything.
“We need to prepare ourselves for everything,”
Grant said at a press conference on Saturday. “I
don't want to look into the past, I have some
experience of penalties.”
He added: “In my team there is a lot of passion,
a lot of people around the team ready to do their
best for the team.
“There is a lot of talent here, the quality of
the players is good and so is the quality of the
games. There have been many, many good games.”
The four-time African champions will take on the
Syli Nationale in Malabo to determine who picks up
a semi-final slot. Source - Goal.com
