Gyan resumes light training Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, returned to
training with the team yesterday, albeit a light
workout, after staying away from action due to
malaria.
Gyan was diagnosed with malaria and hospitalised
for a day in Mongomo last Saturday and therefore
missed the team’s 1-2 loss to Senegal in their
opening Group C game last Monday.
The striker, however, has resumed training and it
will be known today if he will be fit for the
crucial second game against Algeria tomorrow.
Since last Tuesday, the Stars training sessions
have been closed to the media, but the
Communications Director of the Ghana Football
Association (GFA), Sannie Daara, confirmed to the
Daily Graphic that the captain had resumed
training by jogging around and kicking the ball,
but will have a clearance from the team doctor if
he can resume full training.
The captain was spotted with his teamamtes heading
to the restaurant for lunch yesterday and looked
quite well and composed. He declined interviews
but just responded, “I'm very fine”, when
asked how he was feeling.
Ghanaian fans hanging around the team were
obviously happy to see the captain back on his
feet, as they wished him well and expressed the
hope that he will be fit to play against Algeria
tomorrow. Source - Daily Graphic
