Razak Brimah heads above shoulders in goalkeeping department

Razak Brimah favourite to land first competitive start for Ghana
Razak Brimah is in with a good chance of earning
his first full competitive debut for the Black
Stars as he stands tall amongst the goalkeepers
called up for this month’s 2015 AFCON
qualifiers.

The 27-year-old should be the automatic starter
when Ghana play away to Uganda on November 15 and
host Togo four days later on account of his
competitive club activity.

Brimah is the undisputed first choice for his
Spanish second tier club CD Mirandes and even
played in the barren home draw with league leaders
Real Valladolid on Saturday.

The former Nania man is in direct competition with
Stephen Adams and Fatau Dauda who are yet to taste
competitive action this season with their locally
based clubs.

Adams and Dauda who play for Aduana Stars and
AshantiGold respectively are the victims of the
delayed start of the Ghana Premier League due to
the court action brought against the Ghana FA by
King Faisal.

They have thus been only limited to pre-season
training with their clubs while Brimah – who has
been angling for a genuine chance – plays
competitively week-in-week-out.

Interim Ghana coach Maxwell Konadu will however
need to make a bold decision to start Brimah ahead
of Adams who fared quite well in between the
sticks in last month’s games against Guinea.
