Adusei delighted to make the step up to Black Stars Kwabena Adusei is delighted to make the step up to
the Black Stars after previous stints with Ghana's
home-based national side.
The former Asante Kotoko defender was handed his
first senior call up by stand-in coach Maxwell
Konadu for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
qualifying double-header against Guinea.
Adusei, who is in contention of his Black Stars
debut in Casablanca on Saturday in the Group E
fixture admits that there's a huge gulf in terms
of quality.
"At the Black Stars, you get the chance to meet
the super-stars like Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew and
the rest. These are players that normally you
would have been watching them on TV. That's the
difference with the local set-up who you play with
in the Ghanaian league.
"The level is different and I am getting used to
it. They have welcomed me into the set-up and
someone like Gyan is easy to get on with," Adusei
said.
And now with a decisive first of the double
fixture against Guinea on the horizon, Adusei is
looking to force his way into the starting
line-up.
"The training is good. You experience things that
you might not be used to at your Club side and
there are others you might have done before.
"I am determined to give me best when I get the
chance to help Ghana attain victory," said the
Mpumalanga Black Aces defender.
The role of fans in supporting teams, according to
Adusei is very crucial in contributing to the
success of teams.
Though the Black Stars in recent times have
experienced mixed responses from fans, the
defender who thrived before the locals in Kumasi
when he donned the red shirt of Asante Kotoko is
encouraging fans to pitch camp with the national
team once again.
"The fans will need to get behind the team because
without them, there will be a missing link," he
said.
"They need to back the team and show the same
support that they offered previously to help the
team return to great heights." Source - Ghana FA
