Ashgold are GHALCA Top Four champs Kumasi, Sept. 21, GNA - Ashgold S. C. have been
declared champions of this year's GHALCA Top Four
competition.
The decision comes as Hearts of Oak, a finalist in
the competition, has decided to honour the second
leg of the final match in Kumasi at a later date.
Mr. Isaac Coomson, a GHALCA official, told the GNA
Sport that, the Association worked within rules
and regulations and as such had no choice than to
declare the miners winners of the competition.
The two teams drew one all in what was expected to
have been the grand finale barely a week ago.
After proceedings, however, the officials from
both sides were reported to have agreed to
reschedule a second leg of the finals seven days
later.
Mr. Coomson said demands being made by Hearts to
the effect that they needed a time extension had
no basis, saying the GHALCA therefore found it
appropriate to crown Ashgold as champions.
The GNA gathered that a coronation match had been
arranged between Ashgold and New Edubiase to
officially declare the miners as winners of the
competition. Source - GNA
