AC Milan star Muntari eager for Ghana return AC Milan star midfielder Sulley Muntari has
expressed his eager to return to international
action for Ghana with Black Stars suspension still
hanging around his neck.
Muntari, 30, is still serving a suspension placed
on him by the Ghana Football Association during
the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil following a
bloody brawl with a Black Stars management
committee official.
“I honestly can't wait to get back to the team.
I miss my Ghana team mates and I want to really
play my part in the qualifiers because I think I
have something good to contribute to the success
of the team,” he said.
The mercurial midfielder along with Schalke 04
star Kevin-Prince Boateng, Michael Essien and Adam
Kwarasey were all left out of the Ghana squad for
the 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Uganda and Togo
and Muntari is eager to return.
I don't think the team has done badly to deserve
all the criticisms but in all I hope the fans will
stay behind the team so together we can make the
AFCON dream a reality.”
Though he was not in the Ghana squad for the
double-header, Muntari travelled to Ghana to watch
his team-mates and gave them his backing ahead of
the home stalemate with Uganda.
Muntari and Boateng were sacked from the Ghana
camp before the West Africans' final group game
against Portugal and indefinite bans were placed
on them.
However, the fate of the pair are unknown as to
whether they are likely to be called back into the
team with sacked Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah
insisting he had no plans for Boateng during his
tenure with the team. Source - Ghanasoccer
