Caf's Hayatou mourns with Ghana following death of referee CAF President Issa Hayatou has extended his
condolence to the Ghana football family following
the death of referee Kwame Andoh-Kyei.
The assistant referee died a few day after being
physically assaulted by spectators during a second
division match in the Western Region of Ghana.
Hayatou, in mourning with the country has
described the incident that led to the death of
the 21-year old Ghanaian class three referee as
deeply saddening and regrettable.
In a message to Ghana Football Association (GFA)
president Kwesi Nyantakyi, Hayatou said: "I would
like to express my deepest sympathy on hearing of
the untimely death of referee Kwame Andoh-Kyei.
Personally, and on behalf of the CAF executive
committee and the entire African football
community, I should be grateful if you could
extend our deepest condolences to his family,
friends and loved ones.
"I wish to underscore that any acts of violence
and attacks have no place in football and must be
condemned and dealt with in the strongest possible
terms and that you will take all necessary steps
to address issues surrounding this sad situation,"
