Competition for play-off places gathers pace With four rounds of matches left to go in the
Division One League, the race for play-off spots
seems to be taking shape week after week.
Twelve teams will get the chance to compete for
three places in the more lucrative Premier League
next season.
Among the potential play-off teams will certainly
include former Premiership sides.
Real Tamale United, Guan United, Berekum Arsenals,
Bofoakwa, B.A. United, Dunkwa United, Gold Stars,
Starke, Deportivo, Feyenoord, Eleven Wise, Great
Olympics, Istanbul, Tema Youth, Okwawu United and
Danbort are all in the hunt for play-off places.
As the season reaches this crucial stage, the
quest for premier league football is not the only
concern for participating teams, but the desire to
avoid relegation too.
Nania FC appear to have fallen off the pace for
elite competition as they sit just one point above
the bottom side in Zone 3A. The former FA Cup
winners will certainly not be in contention for a
premiership place this season, rather they will be
striving to save their season.
Former Premier League side, Zaytuna risk
relegation in Zone 3B as they languish at the foot
of the log.
Wa Krystal Palace are no longer in competition
following their decision to opt out of the league
in Zone 1B. That decision places lots of pressure
on Atebubu Esperance, who are now bottom in the
zone.
The competition at both ends in the six-zonal
tables will further add to the twist and turns of
Division One football this season. Source - Ghana FA
