Premiership trio hold onto continental hopes Continental Cup dreams still in focus for Ghana's
trio as Berekum Chelsea, Medeama and Ebusua Dwarfs
keep their Africa campaign's going.
It's a busy weekend for all three sides as their
chances of progressing past the first round
qualifiers hinge on their return leg matches.
Berekum Chelsea, who needed a late equaliser to
avert home defeat in the CAF Champions League are
away to Libya's Al Ahly Benghazi in Tripoli.
The former Ghanaian champions face a difficult
return fixture as their opponents hold hold an
away goal to their credit from the first leg.
Chelsea, who reached the last eight in their debut
campaign, two seasons ago are confident of a
positive result.
With a healthy 3-0 advantage going into the return
leg against MAS of Morocco, Medeama's progress to
the next round in the Confederations Cup looks
increasingly possible.
However, the Mauves, who are making their
continental debut are not getting ahead of
themselves.
Despite sitting in the relegation zone in the
domestic competition, Dwarfs continue to impress
in the Confederations Cup.
The Cape Coast side are the guest of Petro
Atletico in Luanda this weekend as they hold a 2-0
first leg advantage.
The statistics are good to read for Dwarfs who
have set their sights at the title.
For assistant coach Rashid Iddi, failure to land
the trophy could be considered a failure.
“We will consider it a failure if we do not lift
the Cup,” the Dwarfs assistant coach. Source - Ghana FA
