First Capital Plus Bank signs up for $10m as league sponsor Ghana Football Association announced today that
First Capital Plus, a Ghanaian bank has signed up
as the sponsor of the Premier League.
The five-year deal worth US$10 million awards
First Capital Plus Bank, the title as headline
sponsor of the league.
According to the GFA, the deal with the wholly
Ghanaian-owned Bank for the sponsorship of the
Premier League will commence from the 2014-15
football season.
"We are very delighted about this relationship,"
Kwesi Nyantakyi said after the signing of the deal
which was witnessed by Sports minister, Hon. Elvis
Afriyie-Ankrah.
"Ghanaians are very passionate about football and
anyone who decides to sponsor football is
sponsoring the passion of the nation.
"First Capital Plus has come at the right time. It
has come at a time the premier league has
SuperSport as its media sponsor. We will abide by
the terms of the contract."
First Capital Plus Bank makes its first break into
the Ghana Premier League with the second round of
the 2013-14 competition resuming on Wednesday.
This new partnership will see First Capital Plus
Bank associate its brand to the elite competition
that is broadcast live on international television
networks and expand their businesses into new
territories.
Chief Executive, John Kofi Mensah said: "We will
come up with innovative products for players and
the Clubs and collaborate with the FA, PLB to
develop holistic strategies to make our league one
of the most attractive leagues in Africa and in
the world. We are proud to sponsor the beautiful
game of football, a sport that unifies the nation.
I hope this sponsorship will help Ghana unearth
