Ghana aim for Libya win at CHAN Ghana coach, Maxwell Konadu believes a
second-straight win for his home-based team at the
African Nations Championship will set them up for
a place in the next round.
Following their opening win against Congo in Group
C, Ghana will take to the field on Friday against
Libya, who lead the log with a better goal
advantage after they defeated Ethiopia.
With history to guide them, Konadu is plotting to
leapfrog the North African's to the top and avert
the experience of Ghana's first round exit in the
2011 CHAN finals in Sudan where they lost all
three group matches.
"We want to beat the Libyans and register a second
straight win in this competition. This will be a
very good achievement for us," the Ghana coach
told www.ghanafa.org ahead of the match.
"A second straight win will make things less
complicated for us and that is our target."
Despite the optimism, the Ghana coach acknowledges
the threat posed by Libyans to his team's dream of
picking a second win at the tournament which is
exclusive to players based in their home
countries.
"The Libyans are a very good side and they are
tactically disciplined. We respect them and we
want to approach the match with all seriousness.
"We know them very well because we played a
friendly with them in Tunisia, which they beat us.
We also saw their match against Ethiopia and we
were able to detect some of their weaknesses. This
is what football is all about. You detect your
opponents weaknesses and you take full
advantage."
Konadu is seeking improvement upfront as he admits
that his attackers need to be sharper.
"The attack is an area we are seeking improvement.
We have been working very hard to improve
upfront," Konadu said.
