The Teranga Lions came from behind to finish 1-1
in the friendly but the West African felt undone
by a decision by the referee to deny them a
penalty.
Both goals came in the first half of the match
played at Stade Municipal in the French capital.
Zambia took the lead in the second minute through
striker Jacob Mulenga.
The Dutch-based striker from FC Utrecht pounced on
a bad back pass by Bordeaux defender Lamine Sane
to beat Rennes goalkeeper Cheikh Tidiane Ndiaye.
However, Zambia’s lead last just six minutes
when Senegal and Lokomotiv Moscow striker Dame
Ndoye beat Kennedy Mweene to level scores.
Senegal felt a little hard done by in the 36th
minute when they thought what they believed to be
a genuine call for penalty ruled out following a
foul on Genk defender Kara Mboj.
The Teranga stepped up the tempo in the second
half but could not find their way through
Zambia’s tenacious defensive line before
settling for a draw.
Meanwhile, Zambia were using the friendly as
build-up for their crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup
Group D qualifier away to Ghana on September 6 in
Kumasi.
Senegal too where using the game to fine-tine
their side for their Group J home game against
