Caf invites media for final World Cup qualifying draw The Confederation of African Football has started
the accreditation process for the media ahead of
the draw of the African third-round qualifiers for
the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The African draw will be made on 16 September 2013
in CAF's headquarters in Cairo, one week after the
last matches of the second-round are played.
CAF on Friday opened the accreditation process
which will end on Thursday, August 15, 2013.
The group winners of the second round stage will
discover their opponents for one of the
continent’s five berths at the 2014 FIFA World
Cup in Brazil.
According to FIFA, the five best-placed sides in
the 12 September 2013 edition of the
FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be seeded for
the draw.
Also, the drawing of lots for the final tournament
of the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN)
will take place on Thursday, September 18 in
Cairo.
Sixteen (16) qualified teams will be divided into
four groups of four teams each and the seeded
teams of each group will be determined by the CHAN
Organising Committee on the basis of the ranking
