Foh Amoaning lauds boxing promotions, urges better training Boxing promotions in the country have put together
largely good fights this year and should be
encouraged, according to boxing administrator
Moses Foh Amoaning.
This year has seen about six high profile bouts
held in Accra that have attracted good crowds and
reviews.
The former Ghana Boxing Association president
notes that good packaging is yielding results.
“I think the promotions are good especially if
you look at the George Ashie and Emmanuel Tagoe
bout. Look at the excitement that it generated!
“And this, with a promoter who had just entered
into the game, Asamoah Gyan. So I think it’s the
quality of the fighters, and the fact that
sometimes the good fighters in the country don’t
want to fight themselves.”
He also noted, despite his praise of promotion
syndicates, has admonished boxing coaches in the
country to pay more attention to the technical
aspects of preparing their fighters.
“I think it’s also down to training and the
quality of technical output which we push on the
boxers. I’ve been looking around for a Ghanaian
boxer who can land a solid hook, an uppercut and a
right cross, I can’t find it,” he wailed.
