Done Deal For Chelsea Ghana's continental lone rangers Berekum Chelsea
host their Liberian counterparts Liberia Ship
Corporate Registry (LISCR) FC in their Champions
League return encounter tomorrow at the Golden
City Park, Berekum.
The return encounter appears to be a foregone
conclusion for the Ghanaian champions, having
recorded a 2-0 win in the first leg a fortnight
ago in Liberia.
The 'Blues' suffered two straight losses to Aduana
Stars and Arsenals in four days after their return
from Liberia, which sent the wrong signals.
But the club bounced back to record a 1-0 win over
fourth-placed Wa All Stars in their midweek clash
in Berekum.
That certainly has restored their confidence, and
if their performance against All Stars is a
yardstick, the reverse encounter appears a mere
formality.
Refreshingly for the Ghanaians, charges like
Charles Taylor, Prince Anokye, Awudu Nafiu in whom
lie gross experience and versatility have
recovered from different degrees of injuries.
And their blend with in-form players like skipper
Abdul Basit, scoring in Liberia and against All
Stars, Jordan Opoku, Prince Papa Arko, goalkeeper
Ernest Sowah and others, make Chelsea favourites.
The Liberians are expected to arrive for the game
this morning and will be flown to Berekum shortly
after arrival.
Meanwhile, the national female U-20 soccer side,
the Black Princesses battle their Namibian
counterparts in their World Cup qualifier in
Namibia today.
