Accra set to host 2011 Caf Awards tonight The 2011 CAF Awards that honours achievers in
African football from players, officials and
administrators for the year under review will be
held in Accra on Thursday night.
The city is already agog with excitement as it
prepares to host the annual awards for the third
time in six years.
In the build-up to the Awards Gala at the venue,
the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra has
witnessed massive transformation and conditioning
to meet the demands of guests, and following the
winning of the BBC Award by a Ghanaian player,
21-year-old Andre “Dede” Ayew, there’s great
anticipation that perhaps the same player, or
someone else from the Ghana national team squad
could win CAF’s title.
Ahead of the main event, a delegation from by the
Confederation of African Football, CAF, led by 2nd
vice president, Almamy Kabele Camara arrived last
Monday in Accra to team up with sponsors,
Globacom, towards the organisation of a successful
event.
The organisers are already teasing that guests
will be left in awe on the day of the ceremony
with a programme filled rich display of culture,
acrobatics and musical performance.

Events said: “We are working feverishly towards
the plan. We are on course and will deliver a show
that will last forever in the minds of the guests.
We are promising a display of celebrating the
finest of African football.”
A number of Ghanaian and international artistes
will headline the musical acts at the Awards Gala
notable amongst them Kwabena Kwabena, a local
hi-life musician and young songstress, Efya, both
from Ghana.
Also billed to perform is Beninois Zeynab and
South African duo, Gloria Bosman and Loyiso Bala.
Acrobatic tumbling group, ‘Troop Agile’ from
Kenya will also be in attendance.
