Awal Mohammed claims he has done enough to merit a national team call
Norway-based Awal shocked over Black Stars snub Norway-based midfielder Mohammed Awal Issah is
surprised at being overlooked by Ghana after
hugely impressing with Rosenborg.
The 24-year-old claims he did enough to convince
coach Goran Stevanovic during their days in the
Serbian League.
Issah produced riveting performances to help
Rosenborg to finish third in the 2010/2011 season
and says he deserves a national team call-up. He
told Accra-based Happy FM: “To be honest with
you, I am surprised that I have not been given a
call-up especially if you look at how I’m
playing at the moment.” “The Black Stars coach
knows me from my time with Red Star and anytime we
played against his team in the league, he had high
praise for me. “So it surprising to me that he
has not given me the chance since he took over the
Black Stars job. But he is the man in charge and
knows why.” Issah was rated among the top five
players of Red Star by Croatian manager Robert
Prosinecki at the end of the Serbian Super Liga
last season. He left the Eastern European country
in July to replace compatriot Anthony Annan.
