Emmanuel Frimpong still frozen-out of Black Stars action
Frimpong not yet cleared to play for Ghana Midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong’s continued wait to
play for Ghana is because he is yet to be granted
permission to do so by Fifa.
Several Ghanaian fans have craved for the
invitation of the 19-year-old Arsenal starlet but
it appears he is not fully in the clear to feature
for the Black Stars ahead of next year’s Africa
Cup of Nations.
Assistant Black Stars coach Akwasi Appiah who
confirmed this on Takoradi-based Melody FM however
insists the young lad is much in the plans of the
Black Stars technical team.
“Goran (Stevanovic) spoke to him and I have
visited him twice at his home and he is more than
willing to play for Ghana,” he said.
“We are processing his papers, you know it takes
time now his papers are with Fifa and we are
waiting for them to give the final decision on his
case.
“Therefore once that is finalized he will be
able to play for Ghana.
“As I said we need to clarify his situation that
is getting notification that he play for Ghana and
if this decision is taken say tomorrow the
technical team will meet and take a decision on
that”
Frimpong is one of many youngsters being named as
possible candidates for the final 23-man squad for
the Nations Cup which kicks off on January 21 in
Gabon and EquatorialGuinea. Source - Ghanasoccer
