Ghana beat Sudan to qualify for AFCON 2012
The Black Stars of Ghana have qualified for 2012
African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and
Gabon after beating Sudan at the Hilal stadium in
Omdurman.

On loan Sunderland striker Asamoah ‘baby jet’
Gyan gave the stars the lead after 11 minutes.
taking advantage of a defensive blunder in the
Sudanese area.

Captain John Mensah returned to the Stars starting
line up and scored his first goal for the national
side.

The central defender, who missed the Black Stars's
penultimate round fixture, partnered Isaac Vorsah
in central defence.

Ghana went close in the second half after Kwadwo
Asamoah missed from close range a Samuel Inkoom
cut-back pass four minutes into the start of the
half.

Isaac Vorsah was sent off in the 52nd minute after
kicking a Sudanese player and is likely to miss
the first two matches in Equatorial Guinea.

Coach Stevanovic was forced to make two quick
changes by bringing on Lee Addy and Anthony Annan
for Sulley Muntari and Kwadwo Asamoah.

Adam Kwarasey who made only one save in entire
game made his third consecutive start for Ghana
with John Paintsil and Daniel Opare playing at
full-back.

Goran Stevanovic handed Derek Boateng a place in
midfield alongside Samuel Inkoom, Emmanuel
Agyeman-Badu and Sulley Muntari.

Stevanovic handed Mohammed Abu his debut after he
came on for Derek Boateng.

Ghana finish the qualifying campaign top of Group
I with 16 points, after recording five wins and a
draw in six games. The Black Stars scored a total
of 13 and conceded just a goal.

Daniel Opare, Isaac Vorsah, John Mensah, Derek
Boateng, Samuel Inkoom, Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu,
Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Muntari

Tagoe, Dominic Adiyiah, Anthony Annan, Quincy
