Essien Dismisses Exit Rumours Michael Essien has dismissed rumours of exiting
Chelsea in the summer, insisting his long-term
future lies with the Blues.
“I do not care about the rumours, I am calm,'
Essien said about speculation surrounding his
future.
'Nobody from Chelsea has told me anything and I
have a contract with them.”
Essien believes that the key to winning trophies
next season will be teamwork amongst a tight-knit
squad, in a hint that Chelsea owner Roman
Abramovich won't be making too many changes to the
current line up over the transfer period.
“We have known each other a long time and we
know what the other players are thinking –
that's a great thing for us and it shows on the
pitch,' Essien added.
“Things come natural to us, we don't have to
think about it. When one of us has the
ball
he knows exactly what his team-mates
are going to be doing.
“We defend together, we attack together –
that's teamwork. It's good for us that we have
kept the same players because we're used to each
other now.”
While Chelsea lacked form around Christmas, they
came good in the new year, and nearly pipped
Manchester United to the title.
And even though the Blues finished the season
trophy-less, fans have a lot to look forward to
next season, with Fernando Torres still finding
his feet at his new home and some new signings and
manager in the pipeline. Source - Daily Guide
