Heart surgeons life-line mission to train Ghanian medics The team of heart specialists from Teesside who
have been to West Africa this week to help carry
out life-saving operations are set to return home
this weekend.
They've been completing a series of procedures in
the city of Kumasi in Ghana.
The medics, from James Cook Hospital, gave up
their time and funded the project themselves.
Members of the team, such as cardiologist Joel
Dunning, are keen to carry on the work, by
training Ghanian surgeons.
He said: "We are going to try and bring a team of
Ghanians back to James Cook and train them so when
they get back they really will have the skills to
look after their patients." Source - BBC
