Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana Pay GHS200m debt - CHAG to NHIS The Christian Council of Ghana and the Ghana
Catholic Bishops conference have called on
managers of the National Health Insurance Scheme
(NHIS) to pay the Christian Health Association of
Ghana (CHAG) monies owed it.
According to Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong General
Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, the
NHIS owes CHAG in excess of GHS200million.
He noted that several efforts have been made over
the years by CHAG to reclaim the money but to no
avail.
Speaking on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on
Class91.3FM on Tuesday 16 May, he said CHAG had
committed to not resort to industrial action to
demand payments and had hoped government would
appreciate its efforts and act accordingly.
Dr Opuni-Frimpong noted: “The situation is
destabilising the effective running of the church
hospitals as we are finding it difficult to pay
bank loans with interests.”
He called on government and the Ministry of Health
to appreciate and acknowledge the contributions
the churches make towards health care delivery in
the nation and roll out, as a matter of urgency, a
programme to pay all arrears owed CHAG hospitals
to ensure that churches are able to run their
hospitals and clinics Source - classfmonline.com
