The Police officer stripped the taxi driver naked for allegedly jumping a red light. Taxi driver stripped naked: 'Angry' IGP orders probe into incident The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David
Asante-Apeatu, has ordered an immediate
investigation into an incident where a police
officer stripped a taxi driver naked for allegedly
jumping a red light.
The victim, Kwabena Danso, was stripped naked in
public by his accuser Gabriel Tabiri, who is
stationed at the Anyaa Police Station. Pictures of
the incident have gone viral on social media.
The Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police
Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur told Benard
Nasara Saibu on Starr Today that the Police
administration is not happy about the incident.
“The attention of the service has been drawn to
the incident and the Police is not happy at all
about the incident. We were at a meeting today and
the IGP ordered for immediate investigation into
the incident. The police officer has no
justification to strip an offender naked in any
way,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Public Safety has
commended the Police administration for the swift
response to the incident.
“The Police are handicapped sometimes when they
come into contact with recalcitrant people and
mostly because our system is paper-based it is
sometimes difficult and cumbersome to address
certain issues that is why we advocate for the
Police to get drivers to visit the insurance
companies very often so that when drivers commit
offences and get away they can easily be
apprehended and dealt with appropriately to serve
as a deterrent to others,” the Executive
Director of the Bureau Nana Yaw Akwada said. Source - Starrfmonline.com
