More than 300 Libya based Ghanaians voluntarily repatriate More than 300 Ghanaians leaving in Libya in North
Africa have returned to Ghana following a
situation they describe as a lawless Libya state
that undermines peaceful livelihood in the
country.
According to the repatriates, life in Libya is
unbearable; adding that there is no government to
maintain law and order.
‘I have regretted going to Libya. Life there is
very difficult. There are robbers who robbed us at
a gun point every day. When you report to the
authorities, they don’t do anything about it’,
one returnee noted.
Some of the returnees who admitted travelling to
Libya on foot through the Libyan desert in search
for greener pastures noted that they were
disappointed at the lawless state of Libya coupled
with hardship, urging other Ghanaians not to
attempt going there.
The repatriates also appealed to government to
salvage the remaining Ghanaians from the dreaded
situation in Libya, as there are no air planes to
transport them back home after paying for the
air-ticket.
‘We paid for the air-ticket months ago but there
were no airplanes arriving in the country to bring
us back to Ghana. We are pleading with government
to save our brothers left behind in Ghana’
another returnee asserted.
According to another repatriate, three died whiles
camping for a flight to convey them back to
Ghana.
