Spokesperson of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu

Akufo-Addo must declare stance on homosexuality – Sheikh Aremeyaw
The Spokesperson of the National Chief Imam Sheikh
Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has urged President
Akufo-Addo to declare his stance on
homosexuality.

According to him, the leadership of the country
has lost hold of the society, and that is
dangerous.

His comments come on the back of a Starr News’
report in which a 27-year-old gay man named Benjy
revealed that he was diagnosed with HIV/AIDs in
2012 but still continues to have unprotected sex.

He said he has so far slept with over 500 people.

“Personally I don’t enjoy condoms…I am still
having unprotected sex, if you value your life why
wouldn’t you put it on because I wouldn’t ask
you to take it off,” Benji shockingly
confessed.

He continued “My first experience with anal sex
was during my first year in High School, I
hadn’t experienced penetration until then. It
was in 2007 when we were experiencing the first
load power shedding…We wouldn’t go for preps
and that is where we do our own thing.”

“Ethic and morality has lost its place in our
society,” said Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu in
reaction to the report filed by Starr News’
Atiewin Mbilla Lawson adding “Benjy wants to
disintegrate society with his actions.”

Appalled by the revelations in the report, he
called on the president to make known his stance
on the canker positing that the rate at which it
is spreading, if care is not taken “the very
structure and root of family” will be
destroyed.

“I would be glad if the current president comes
out clearly to state a position,” he stated
Thursday on Morning Starr.

He further observed that he likens the spread of
homosexuality in the country to the galamsey
menace currently destroying the country’s
environment, including water bodies.

“…Galamsey when it began it was a small group
that would go and collect the sand and they were
doing it. Now it has become so expanded, our water
bodies are being polluted, our farmlands are now
being spoilt. We are being told if we don’t take
care we will import water. Homosexuality is
beginning with some small group somewhere and I
bet you if we joke and it engulfs us, the spirit
of our society and the future of our society will
be endangered,” he warned.

HIV ‘gay man’ must be arrested

Meanwhile, a private legal practitioner, Samson
Lardy Ayenini has called for the immediate of the
27-year-old HIV/AIDs homosexual who appears to be
on a mission to spread the disease.

Commenting on Benjy’s revelation on Starr Today
Tuesday, Mr. Ayenini said “Initially I wasn’t
told that he had HIV; and I straight away said
that the police should be looking for this person
and should pick him up. This is a self-confessed
individual who is engaging in a crime and the
police should look for him and deal with him…but
now that I’m hearing that he has HIV, they
should go beyond just looking for him; to let the
law deal with him in a manner that the law
requires or dictates.”

He also urged the police to provide Benjy the help
that he needs.
Ghana’s laws are silent on homosexuality but
persons found to be engaging in such acts are
mostly attacked and brutally assaulted.

Most African countries also frown on the act and
in some countries people suspected to be
homosexuals are jailed or killed.
