the breakdown of a digital camera for the
capturing images of applications, sources close to
the Regional Passport Office have revealed.
The suspension has been in force
since March 27 and services are expected to be
restored on April 3, 2017. Some prospective
applicants who had travelled from the length and
breadth of the Western and Central regions to have
their passport application forms processed, were
left stranded as long queues were formed at the
Office located at Sekondi.
“We got here 4:00am and it is 6:00pm but we
couldn’t start the process,” one of them told
Connect FM Meanwhile, some of the prospective
applicants were attacked on March 22, attacked by
alleged armed robbers while on their way to the
Passport Office to process their application.
Regional Enforcement Officer of the Ghana
Immigration, Chief Superintendent Lawrence Adjei
Agyapong who confirmed the incident to host of
Asem Yi Dzi Ka on Connect FM, Malik Ramzey said
the robbery occured at two different locations
within the Metropolis.
He he said some of victims had bruises on parts of
their bodies when they arrived at the Passoport
Office, adding some of them lost valuable items
and sums of money in the robbery attack. Mr.
Agyapong cautioned the public to desist from
forming queues at dawn since they do that at their
own peril, noting that the Office opens to the
