Akufo-Addo's gov't gives $90,000 to MPs to buy cars? Director of Elections for the Progressive People's
Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu has disclosed that
the Government of Ghana has issued a cheque of
90,000 dollars to Members of Parliament to
purchase for themselves cars.
He made this shocking revelation on Peace FM's
Kokrokoo in relation to the free Senior High
School policy by the government.
Contrary to criticisms that there might be
challenges with funding the free SHS policy, Nana
Ofori Owusu told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the
nation has lots of money to implement the
President's vision.
He wondered how it would be difficult to fund the
project when Parliamentarians are being given
$90,000 each just to buy cars.
“Every time, we say we don’t have money. But
they have given a cheque for $90,000 each to
Parliamentarians, the 275 of them all that came
recently, to go and buy 4WDs...Multiply the
$90,000 by 275. We wake up and say there’s no
money. It’s close to GHC 9.96 million . . .
“We have money in the system. There is money . .
. First, there’s the vision and then you find
the money in the system.”
He called on the nation to support the vision by
President Nana Akufo-Addo in order to revitalize
the economy.
“The vision of the leader and where he wants us
to go will help us to support him. We want to
support our citizens because Ghana is one nation
and for us all. So, if the vision is bold and the
vision has clear path line to development, we will
all do our best to ensure progress and development
in the economy," he said.
