15 cops storm NDC's Trobu Secretary’s home to seize Fifteen police officers in six patrol vehicles
have stormed the home of Mr Fame Derek Djisam, the
NDC’s Communication Secretary for the Trobu
constituency, to seize a 2012-registered 2008
model Tundra.
The officers said they had reports that the car
was a stolen state asset.
Mr Djisam told Emefa Apawu on Class91.3FM’s 505
news programme on Friday, 17 February that despite
pleading with the officers to allow him to produce
documents covering the car, they insisted on
towing it away in the presence of his 75-year-old
mother and children.
“It’s complete madness, I mean it’s complete
madness,” he fumed.
Mr Djisam said the car “is privately owned, I
bought it from an expatriate” but used it to
help the NDC in the 2016 election campaign.
He insisted the car was not given to him by the
NDC. “Are they telling me if you do your private
business, you can’t help your party?” Mr
Djisam wondered.
He said he had spoken to his lawyer to sue the
police officers who said they were part of the
assets taskforce set up by the presidency to
retrieve stolen state vehicles and other assets.
The cars of NDC members including Kofi Adams and
James Agyenim-Boateng were recently seized in
similar fashion. The CID on Thursday returned all
five cars to Mr Adams. That of Mr Agyenim-Boateng
is yet to be returned.
