Kofi Akpaloo - Flagbearer of the IPP

I’II accept GRA boss position if appointed - Kofi Akpaloo
The founder of Independent People’s Party (IPP)
Kofi Akpaloo has stated that he is willing to
accept the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) boss
position if the President Nana Addo Dankwa
Akufo-Addo gives him the opportunity.

He explained that he will not hesitate to add his
expertise in changing the face of tax system to
generate money for the country.

According to him, Ghana’s tax rate is high hence
its inability to collect the tax suggesting that
the country needs to reduce its taxes that have
burdened citizens.

Speaking on Ultimate Breakfast show hosted by
Lantam Papanko, the presidential nominee of the
party in the 2016 elections, said it is prudent to
add his ideas to the President to move the country
forward.

He stated that the economy needs to be
re-engineered adding that he can make meaningful
contributions to build the nation.

‘Oh yes, definitely am still waiting for an
appointment from the President Nana Addo, we have
discussed it so I am going to work with him.
Because we need to bring our ideas together to
push the country forward. We shouldn’t try to
portray that we are fighting each other, we are
here for a common goal to serve our country. We
want to turn things around, transform the economy
for every young man and woman to get something to
do with it, so we cannot sit aloof and say just go
and do it yourself.

I have so much inside me that I think I can help
Nana Addo with. Actually everything is in the
hands of Nana Addo, so I won’t be able to say to
when the appointment will be announced. Anything
relating to finance, I will be able to contribute,
if am in charge of the Ghana Revenue Authority, I
will be able to help the whole tax system in
Ghana, that is what I think if am given the
opportunity to serve. I see that Ghana we are not
able to collect enough taxes, we have higher rate
of taxes and we are not able to collect enough, I
will introduce a new unique ID number for each
person if am given the opportunity,’ he said.

Mr Akpaloo assured that he will ensure that
officials account for tax collection adding that
it will be in Nana Addo’s own interest to
appoint him.
