Former Interior Minister Prosper Bani applauds Ghana troops to The Gambia Source The immediate past Minister for Interior, Prosper
Bani, has hailed Ghana’s decision to send troops
to augment Ecowas’ force in the attempt to oust
Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh.
Ghana is sending 205 combat troops to The Gambia
to join the sub-regional mission, which aims at
forcing President Jammeh out of office if he does
not step down.
Speaking on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa on Wednesday,
Mr. Bani said “I want to applaud the Armed
Forces for such a move because Yahya Jammeh must
heed to the people of the Gambia”.
“Ghana is a legitimate member of ECOWAS and we
will not be doing justice to the continent if we
pull back,” he said.
He added: “The people of Africa have chosen
democracy and so if their will has resulted to the
change of government, then it is up to Jammeh to
heed to that”.
The former Minister told the host, Bright Asempa,
that “should the forces of ECOWAS enter the
Gambia, there will loss of lives and destruction
of property so I will support extensive diplomatic
resolution to the problem”.
