We'll arrest perpetrators of vandalism – Cephas Arthur Superintendent Cephas Arthur has warned against
recent acts of vandalism by some political party
faithful after the NPP was declared winners of
last week’s general elections.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ghana
Police Service made this remark in an interview
with Metro TV’s Gideon Obodai Ashong on the
recent attacks on billboards, posters and flags of
political parties in certain parts of the country.
“We will arrest anyone caught vandalizing public
properties and political flyers,” he asserted.
The PRO who advised party foot soldiers to desist
from these acts added, “Elections have
successfully been conducted in a peaceful manner,
why would you start violence after the main event
has been completed without a hitch,” he
lamented.
Akin to the discussion, a documentary aired on the
Metro’s TV breakfast show, captured posters of
both the NPP and NDC damaged and scattered on the
ground across the capital city.
The same video, showed a toll booth in Fiapre in
the Brong Ahafo region that had also been razed
down by some vandals.
In a separate account, some ‘machomen’ were
arrested for allegedly hijacking Tema toll booth
in the pretext of safeguarding money per adventure
some ‘bad people’ attempted to loot the money
which should go into government coffers.
There has also been reports of alleged attacks on
high-ranking NDC officials, including the MP-elect
for Ablekuma South Constituency, Dr Alfred Okoe
Vandapuijie, popular TV personality and NDC
activist Wofa K and Ben Ephson just to mention a
few.
These developments, according to some election
observers, could sparked possible reprisal attacks
from those who have suffered these intimidations
and attacks. Source - Asempanews
