Calm down NPP supporters – Chief Imam to Nana Addo The Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Shaributu, has urged
President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo to call his New
Patriotic Party (NPP), supporters to order,
following reported cases of violent conduct after
the party’s election victory.
He contends that the recent cases of alleged
intimidation and attacks on supporters of the
National Democratic Congress (NDC) could disturb
the peaceful transition of power in the country.
Sheikh Shaibu, Spokesperson to the National Chief
Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, spoke on behalf of
the Chief Imam when he paid a courtesy call on
President-Elect Nana Akufo Addo at his residence
in Nima earlier today [Monday].
He said that; “Such things, if they are truly
going on, then probably your [Nana Akufo-Addo’s]
voice could also help to ameliorate the problem so
we can have a very peaceful transition in the
interest of our country.”
The Chief Imam also hailed the NPP Flagbearer for
the conciliatory tone of his victory speech, which
he said gave ample testimony of Nana
Akufo-Addo’s commitment to democracy and the
rule of law. “This election victory did not come
out of nothing.
It was the outcome of strong determination, faith
in God, tenacity of purpose and good planning
throughout the long period of you struggled to
assume the leadership of our great nation.”
“Whilst rejoicing with you and your party, we
equally wish to assure you of our continuous
prayers and support throughout your entire tenure
as the president of our dear land,” Sheikh
Shaibu added on behalf of the Chief Imam. Source - Citifmonline
