Ignore hi5, focus on Elephant – Akufo-Addo The 2016 flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party
(NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has urged
party supporters to disregard the “high five”
mantra – depicting the No.5 position he occupies
on the ballot paper – and rather look out for
the Elephant, the opposition party’s symbol –
on the ballot paper when voting in the 7 December
polls.
The slogan has been adopted to drum home the
position Mr Akufo-Addo occupies on the voting
paper.
But speaking in a press conference in Kumasi on
Wednesday 30 November, Mr Akufo-Addo said although
he is fifth on the presidential ballot paper, some
of his parliamentary candidates would not be at
No.5 on the ballot sheet, hence party supporters
needed to concentrate on the symbol of the party,
the Elephant, instead of the number five.
In constituencies where some parties fail to field
parliamentary candidates, the NPP aspirant will
likely not be at the number five position on the
ballot sheet.
“In this election, I have heard people say
high-five, but I’m here to plead with you that
what is most important is the elephant, because
the NPP’s symbol is the elephant, the
presidential candidate’s is also the elephant.
Not all MPs will be number five on the ballot, so
the most important thing is to remember the
Elephant when you are voting.” Source - Classfmonline
