EC's rigging plot'll start on 1 Dec: NPP The Electoral Commission's ploy to rig the
upcoming December 7 elections for the governing
National Democratic Congress (NDC) will start with
the special voting on 1 December 2016, Mr Sammi
Awuku, National Youth Organiser of the main
opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said.
Mr Awuku told NPP’s Northern Regional Youth
League in Tamale that: “The special voters’
list is a source of worry to us as a political
party because several names have been deleted.”
Mr Awuku said the National Peace Council and the
Christian Council of Ghana must make sure the EC
demonstrates its transparency and neutrality in
the polls.
Mr Awuku also criticised the EC’s advertisements
which senstitise voters to go home right after
voting.
“We disagree with the EC’s advert asking
voters to go home. We are ready to protect the
precious ballots. We are determined and prepared
to defend the ballot on December 7, and no amount
of news conferences by the security agencies can
frustrate us.”
“Ghanaians should punish Mahama’s government
for taking us for granted.” “We have suffered
for eight years under Mahama and so you need to
register your anger on the ballot. Sacrifice the
last eight days to achieve this goal,” Mr Awuku
added.
“The NDC now symbolises desperation. They have
wasted the taxpayers’ money on erection of giant
billboards. Ghanaians will regret it if they make
a mistake and renew Mahama’s mandate.” Source - Classfmonline
