Mahama's bribery attempt on Bugri 'shameful' President John Mahama’s attempt to bribe the
Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic
Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, so that he would
turn against his flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo is a
“shameful” act, NPP Campaign Manager, Peter
Mac Manu has stated.
Addressing journalists at a press conference in
Accra on Tuesday, 29 November, Mr Mustapha Hamid,
Spokesperson of the NPP flag bearer said President
Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim, in October this
year, attempted bribing Mr Naabu with two SUVs,
separate amounts of GHS3.3million and GHS500,000
as well as other mouth-watering goodies so that he
(Bugri Naabu) would resign from the NPP and launch
an acerbic tribal campaign against Mr Akufo-Addo
by painting him as a “hater of northerners”.
Mr Manu, who was also at the press conference,
said the conduct of Mr Mahama and his brother was
an indictment on the country’s democracy.
“This is quite shameful for our democracy. We
tout ourselves as one of the most democratic
countries in the world but I don’t think in
other African countries you go and buy votes,
which is even against our own laws,” he
stressed. Source - Classfmonline
